Working Responsibly with Human Subjects

How to complete CITI Training:

  1. Go to the CITI Program website https://about.citiprogram.org/en/homepage/
  2. Click on Register at the top
  3. Type in University of Mount Olive
  4. Check the agreement and affirmation boxes
  5. Click on Continue to Create your CITI Program Username/Password button
  6. Fill in the appropriate information using your UMO email address and a secondary email address
  7. Remember your login information
  8. Continue to take appropriate training (i.e., Social and Behavioral Research Investigators)
  9. Save copies of your training completion to submit as necessary (i.e., class assignments, IRB application, etc.)

Things to note:

  • If you had a CITI Program account prior to 2015 with UMO, your account will still be there, so utilize the forgot username or password features to access your old account information.
  • Also, you have the option of paying out of pocket for continuing education credits for any training you complete for your licensure or professional accolades, etc.
  • If you belong to another institution who utilizes CITI Program, you can log into that account and add the University of Mount Olive as an affiliation, which will keep all of your training logs in one place.

IRB Approval

You must obtain Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval before you begin your research project. This can take time, so plan accordingly.
