Student & UMO Community Policies

  • Responsible use, care, and return of borrowed library materials is presumed of all students and users.
  • Payment for lost/unreturned or damaged materials and overdue fines is the responsibility of the borrower.
  • For Students: University policy states on page 69 of the 2024-25 Undergraduate Catalog:
    • The University reserves the right to withhold grade reports and transcripts of students who have not returned library materials or cleared financial or judicial obligations (payment of fines, damage fees, or costs of replacement for lost materials and/or completion of service hours, etc.) by the date required at the end of each semester.
    • Further, the University reserves the right to deny registration for the term or semester following unless obligations have been cleared or arrangements made to settle the account.
  • For Students, Staff, and Other Community Members: Materials are loaned for approximately one month.
  • For Faculty and Adjunct Faculty: Most materials are loaned for approximately three months.
  • Any materials not returned or replaced through fines (replacement and processing fee) will result in borrowing privileges being revoked and a hold on the student's university account.
  • Losses:
    • Charges for lost/unreturned books is the replacement cost + $10.00 processing fee.
  • Damages:
    • Assessed charges for damages are based on extent of damage or repair necessary.
