eBooks that are available to you through Moye Library have a DRM (Digital Rights Management) application, so you must have certain programs to access these eBooks offline once you have electronically checked them out.
Below are the steps and resources that you need for offline access to eBooks for eBooks on EBSCO and Ebook Central.
- You must get an account, each is free, for the database that you are using. Your UMO account is not connected.
- eBooks on EBSCO allows you to create an account through your Google account or through your email. Click Sign-In in the top navigation of the eBooks on EBSCO page and follow the directions to create an account.
- Ebook Central Create an Account page allows you to create an account with your email.
- You will need an Adobe ID, which is free.
- You can create your ID through your Google, Facebook, or Apple accounts or with your E-mail.
- You will need a program to open the initial file downloaded, which downloads the eBook to your device. The initial file that is downloaded from eBooks on EBSCO or Ebook Central is a .ascm (Adobe Content Server Management) file.
- Once you've installed Adobe Digital Editions, you will need to authorize your device with your Adobe ID Credentials.
- Windows and MacOS
- From the top navigation of the application, select Help and then Authorize Computer
- Android and iOS
- Select top-right hamburger bars and then select Settings
- From the Settings Authorize button.
Your device should now be set up to download and read eBooks offline that you have electronically checked out. If you are having any trouble, please contact Moye Library for additional help.
