Off-Campus Access: Accessing Moye Library Services Remotely

As classes move to an online format, here are suggestions to assist with your research: 

Here's what you need to know: 

• All library assistance is currently virtual via phone, email, Library Chat, a research appointment form, and Zoom.
• Virtual assistance will be available:
  • Mon.-Thur.: 8:00am-11:00pm
  • Friday:8:00am-4:00pm 
  • Saturday: 11:00pm-3:00pm (starting March 28, 2020)
  • During non-virtual Library hours, Library Chat help will be available outside of these hours. We will promptly update this guide with any changes in this information.

• Interlibrary loan will be available on a limited basis. Please keep in mind that turnaround time will be increased for these requests due to the closure of other lending libraries. We are not lending or borrowing physical materials. We are providing ILL for book chapters and articles. While we cannot lend books, if students/faculty can use a table of contents (often available if you look up the book in Google Books and choose Preview), I may be able to get a PDF of one chapter.

• We are here for you and all of your information needs at this time. Please see the information below for details on how to use online materials, ways to request virtual assistance, and other relevant information.

Below are instructions for access to different types of material. If you are looking specifically for online resources remember to use the following limits in your search:

• Held By Library: University of Mount Olive, Moye Library: finds items we hold in print and electronic format
• eBook: finds eBook content 
• Full-text: finds full-text electronic content (eBooks and articles)
  • Full-text access is only available for items that have a yellow View Full Text button. 

Virtual library assistance is available at the times stated above and chat is available 24/7, except on federal holidays. These services are always available to students, faculty, and staff, but we are raising awareness of their availability.

Chat is available on the library homepage (pictured below): https://umo.edu/library/ as well as on this guide to the left side of this page. (It may appear at the top of the page on a phone.) 

The icons on the chat box (shown above) do the following:

• Paperclip Icon: Attach a file to your chat to share with the librarian.
• Envelope Icon: Email your chat transcript.
• Arrow and Box Icon: Move your chat box to another window to avoid losing your chat if you navigate off the page you are on.

The research help request form accessible by the blue button below allows you to make an appointment with a librarian for research help. Appointments are not required, but can be useful when you are busy and need to set aside time to get personalized help. You may also upload documents to this form like your syllabus, assignment guidelines, or pictures of your notes to help the librarian learn more about your assignment. 

One-on-one and group (for group projects) Zoom help sessions are available during library hours. Please email us or fill out the research help request form so that we can send you a Zoom invite to as personalized session.
