The University student, faculty, or staff ID is required to check out materials. Qualifying local patrons may complete an application for a library card at either the Circulation Desk or Reference Desk and be issued a card. Books and audio-visual materials may be checked out at the Circulation Desk or at the Reference Desk.
Books from the main collection circulate for approximately one month and may be renewed in person, by telephone, or by e-mail. Renewals are accepted provided the material is not overdue or has not been requested by another student or patron.
Each month, the Library receives a copy of newly released popular titles. These new popular books are located on the main floor of the library near the circulation desk. One renewal is allowed on popular books.
Because of the nature of the materials, some types do not circulate. They are:
Regular Book | None Currently |
Kindle eReader | $5.00 per day |
Reserved Books | $1.00 per half-hour. A book returned at 45 minutes after the hour will be considered 1 full hour late, resulting in a $2.00 fine. |
Notes: Weekends and Holidays are counted. The maximum overdue fine for regular materials is $5.00 per item; for reserve materials, $10.00 per item.; for the eReader, $35.00.
Students will receive notice through e-mail and/or mail as a courtesy reminder for overdue material. After 30 days of the original due date, the overdue material will be invoiced for replacement, including a $10.00 processing fine and overdue fees. The overdue notice is shown below. All material must be returned by the due date or Reading Day, whichever comes first. Books that are not returned will be automatically invoiced for the replacement of the book, including a $10.00 processing fine and overdue fees, on the last day of the semester.
Fines are to be paid when the overdue material is turned in. In the event that the fines are not paid when the material is returned, students will be sent reminders to pay their fines; a copy has been provided below. All fines much be paid by Reading Day to avoid a hold being placed on your account.
Assessed charges for damages are based on the extent of damage or repairs necessary.
